Two Different Paths, Depending on Your Credit
Qualifying credit → financing. Affirm and Sunbit are traditional financing. You are approved for a set amount and make simple monthly payments. Affirm runs 0% APR on its Pay in 4 and 0–36% APR on longer monthly plans based on credit, subject to an eligibility check. Sunbit offers 0% APR for qualifying customers, approved in seconds.
Thin or bruised credit → lease-to-own. Acima, Snap and Kafene are lease-to-own, not loans. They look at more than a traditional credit score, so they are worth applying for even if your credit is not perfect. All credit types are welcome to apply.
How Lease-to-Own Works
With lease-to-own, the finance company owns the parts and you lease them, acquiring ownership by completing the lease or by using an early purchase option. It is not a loan and it is not a credit card.
Acima lets you start a lease for as little as $10 and offers a 90-day early purchase option to own your build for less than the full lease cost. (Action required to exercise the early purchase option; see your agreement for details.)
Snap goes up to $5,000 and welcomes all credit types to apply. Snap does review specialty-bureau reports as part of approval, so it is not a no-questions process — but it approves many customers a traditional lender would not.
Kafene is another lease-to-own path with a 90-day early purchase option, useful when the others are not the right fit.
