Jeep Wrangler Lift Kit Installation in Willis, TX

Jeeps are the most-lifted vehicles on the road, and also the most commonly lifted badly. A Wrangler's solid axles make a lift look simple - and that simplicity tempts people into cheap kits and skipped steps that show up later as death wobble, off-center steering wheels, and vibrations at highway speed. Here is how we set up Wranglers and Gladiators at our shop in Willis, and what each height actually involves.

Wrangler lift heights, tires, and installed pricing

Lift height Tire it pairs with Starts at (installed) What it involves
1.5-2" budget boost 33s $1,100 Coil spacers, shock extensions or new shocks
2.5-3.5" 35s $1,100-2,200 New coils and shocks; control arm geometry starts to matter
4-6" 37s+ $2,200 Full kit with control arms, track bar correction, brake lines

The sweet spot for most Wranglers is 2.5 to 3.5 inches on 35s: real trail clearance, still friendly on the highway, and no drastic changes to how the Jeep drives. If a 35 is the goal, our guide to what size lift 35-inch tires need applies to Jeeps as much as trucks.

What changes as you go taller

Past about 2.5 inches of lift, a solid-axle Jeep needs its steering and suspension geometry corrected, not just raised. That means adjustable or relocated control arms to keep the caster angle right, a track bar correction so the axle sits centered under the Jeep, and often a driveshaft check on shorter-wheelbase models. Kits that skip these corrections are where death wobble stories come from.

This is also why we align every Jeep after a lift and road-test it before handoff - a Wrangler that wanders or shimmies at 70 mph is a setup problem, and it is fixable at install time for far less than chasing it afterward.

The brands we install on Jeeps

We stock and install Rough Country, Skyjacker, Zone Offroad, BDS, and Fox for Wranglers and Gladiators - from simple 2-inch boosts to complete 4-inch systems with all the correction hardware. Between brands at the same height, the differences are mostly in shock valving and hardware quality; our lift kit brand guide explains how we match brand to build and budget. You can also see everything Jeep-specific on our Jeep lift kits page.

How long a Jeep lift takes

A 2-inch budget boost is a same-day job - usually three to four hours including the alignment. A 3.5-inch kit with control arms runs a full day. A 4-inch-plus system with track bar, control arms, and brake lines can stretch into a second day, and we will tell you which bucket your build lands in when we quote it. The general timeline logic in how long a lift install takes applies, with Jeeps usually running slightly quicker than trucks at the same height because the solid axle keeps the parts count down.

A note on used Jeeps and existing lifts

A lot of Wranglers around Lake Conroe are on their second or third owner, wearing a lift somebody else installed. If your used Jeep wanders, shimmies after bumps, or eats front tires, bring it by before assuming it needs a new kit - very often the hardware is fine and the geometry was never set up correctly. Sometimes the fix is adjustable control arms and a proper alignment rather than starting over, and we would rather sell you the $300 fix than the $2,000 do-over if that is what the Jeep actually needs.

Gladiator note

Gladiator owners: your longer wheelbase is friendlier to taller lifts than a two-door Wrangler, but the bed changes the rear spring rates, so Wrangler kits do not simply carry over. We spec Gladiator-specific kits so the truck sits level loaded or empty - and if you tow with it, say so when you call, because that changes which rear springs make sense.

Is a lifted Jeep street legal in Texas?

Short version: Texas has no lift height limit for Jeeps and trucks, but headlight height and fender coverage rules still apply. The details are in our Texas lift law guide.

Why owners drive up from Conroe and The Woodlands

We are a suspension shop, not a general repair bay - lifts, leveling, wheels, and tires are the whole business. Willis is a quick run up I-45 from Conroe, The Woodlands, Spring, and Montgomery, and most Wrangler lifts are done same-day or next-day. Free estimates, one-business-day response, Monday to Friday 8 to 5.
