The GMC Sierra 1500 shares its bones with the Silverado — same frame, same front suspension, same fitment rules — but Sierra owners search for Sierra answers, so here's the guide written for your truck, based on the GM trucks we level every week in Willis.
What a leveling kit does on a Sierra
From the factory, the Sierra sits lower in the front than the rear for towing. A 2" leveling kit brings the nose up even with the rear — a cleaner stance and room for bigger tires.
Sierra 1500 leveling kit cost
A standard 2" puck-style leveling kit — parts, labor, and alignment included — typically runs $550–$600 plus tax at our shop. Replacement-strut leveling kits start around $750.
Best tire size on a leveled Sierra
Straight talk: GM trucks run tighter in the front end than Fords — the same tire that drops onto a leveled F-150 can take more work on a Sierra.
33s are the clean fit. A 33" tire on a 2" level clears well on most Sierras and keeps the factory ride. At 12.5" wide, wheel offset starts deciding everything — factory wheels sit around +27, and swinging to aggressive negative offset is what causes most rubbing complaints.
35s are the "with work" option: fender liner trimming, mud flap removal, and careful wheel selection. Doable — we do it — but not bolt-and-go. Want 35s with zero compromises? On this platform the honest answer is a proper lift kit, not a level.
| Setup | Fits? | What it takes |
|---|---|---|
| 33x11.5 + 2" level | Clean fit | Nothing on most trucks |
| 33x12.5 + 2" level | Yes | Offset matters — mud flap / minor liner trim on some |
| 35s + 2" level | Tight | Liner trimming + careful offset |
| 35s, zero compromises | Best with a lift | 3.5"+ lift is the no-rub route |
Every year, trim, and wheel combo varies — we confirm exact fitment on your truck before anything gets ordered. Run sizes through the tire size calculator or spec it all in the Build Planner.
HD note: Sierra 2500/3500
The HD trucks level differently — torsion-bar front ends use torsion keys instead of strut pucks. Same result, different hardware; we set those up too.
